The Word for today is found in Job 42:10, 12 and 17.
And the Lord restored Job’s losses when he prayed for his friends. Indeed the Lord gave Job twice as much as he had before.
Now the Lord blessed the latter days of Job more than his beginning; for he had fourteen thousand sheep, six thousand camels, one thousand yoke of oxen, and one thousand female donkeys.
So Job died, old and full of days.
God took me to these particular verses in Job for a reason. Job’s losses were reversed when he got his eyes off of himself, and looked instead to the needs of others.
So often we get so caught up in our own problems and never see what is really happening around us. God called us to a lost and dying world that we should pray and reach out to the lost.
Once we get our eyes and hearts fixed on what God’s priorities are, then your problems will not seem so big.
Larry, my husband, had a meeting in South Florida, this past week, and God sent me along with him. I really could have stayed at home and saved us some money, but God said go, so I went.
The first night we were there we were walking back to the hotel after supper and the Holy Spirit stopped me in my tracks and took me over to a man sitting on a park bench.
He was not partially clean, and seemed really down and out. He had a walker and was just sitting there with his head bowed down as if he had lost his last friend.
I sat down and started talking to Lewis.
The love of God so overcame me that I could do nothing but love on him as we talked. He was so sweet and so thankful that God sent someone along to pray, and to share the love of God with him.
I have and will continue to pray for Lewis and all the Lewises of this world for that is what God has called me to do.
Do you have a Lewis in your life? If not, then ask God to send one by.
The greatest blessing I know is to share the love of Christ with another, and to embrace them as Jesus did while he was here ministering on this earth. We are to be the hands and feet of Christ. How else will the world see Jesus if not through us?
I now know why God had me go with my husband on this particular trip. It was for Lewis and Lewis alone. That is the kind of God we serve, and what a great God he is.
Be a blessing to someone today. Pass the love around.
Love in Christ, Pastor Louise.
