The Word for today is found in Ephesians 2: 8-10
V8 For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith-and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God. V9 Not by works, so that no one can boast.V10 For we are God’s workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.
Grace says that God did all the work and all you need to do is accept the free gift that he has for you by faith. God did not need or want your help in attaining your salvation, and you could not have done anything even if you had wanted to.
There are those who think that if they do enough good works, God will accept them and they would be saved. Your self-righteousness is as filthy rags to God (Isaiah 64:6). It is not your sin that is keeping you from being saved; it is the acceptance or rejection of Jesus. After you are born again, Jesus will clean up your flesh.
Works are not to gain favor with God. They are a result of the Grace that has been extended toward you.
But, faith without works is dead, because works is the outward expression of the faith that is in your spirit (James 2:20). The world cannot see your faith, for it is of the spirit. But they can see your works which are a product of your faith.
Walk in the spirit today and you will not fulfill the lust of the flesh.
Love, Pastor Louise.
