The Word for today is found in James 4:13-15
13Come now, you who say, Today or tomorrow we will go into such and such a city and spend a year there and carry on our business and make money.
14Yet you do not know [the least thing] about what may happen tomorrow. What is the nature of your life? You are [really] but a wisp of vapor (a puff of smoke, a mist) that is visible for a little while and then disappears [into thin air].
15You ought instead to say, If the Lord is willing, we shall live and we shall do this or that [thing]. (Amplified Bible)
I remember so well all the times I used to get up in the mornings and never give the Lord the time of day: All the things I would plan for that day and the weeks ahead and never think to ask him if that is what he wanted me to do.
It was a self-centered, proud attitude that said I knew more than God, and I really did not need to check in with him at all. Of course when everything fell apart, then, boy, did I find time for God, but by then I was so deep in the muck that I could hardly find my way out.
God gives us each new day and we should start each morning rejoicing in it. Spend time with your Father and let him know how much he really means to you, and then spend more time listening to what he has to say than what you have to say. It will make your day so much better, and you can avoid the potholes that Satan has set up for you.
Seek God’s will for your life each and every day, for it is not you that lives but rather Christ who lives in you, and gave his life for you.
Be a blessing and pass the good news on to someone else today.
Love in Christ, Pastor Louise.
