The Word for today is found in 3 John 1:2
2Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth. (KJV)
God is not against the prosperity of his children; as matter of fact John says here that he wishes it above all things. Prosperity is part of the covenant that God made with Abraham. Deuteronomy 28 is all about what you as a covenant partner can claim.
But we need to be real careful how we deal with the wealth that God wants to bring our way. Jesus did not say that riches were evil; he said, rather, the love of money was evil. When you let money be your master you have a real problem.
God trusted Abraham with wealth because he was a channel of blessings to others.
Can God trust you with the blessings so that they do not take over your life, and that you will be willing to give into his Kingdom work?
God wants you to be blessed so you can bless others.
If God poured out blessings to all immature Christians it would eventually take them down. They would not have enough spiritual maturity to avoid being overwhelmed with the money.
Money is a great thing but it can also destroy your walk with the Lord if you do not have the power of the Word in your life to handle it.
Jesus said to seek the Kingdom of God first then all these things would be added to you. Seek the Kingdom, then the things will not overtake you.
One thing I have noticed is as I grow spiritually: material things just do not matter as much as they use to.
I am satisfied in Christ. I do not need things to make me feel good any more.
What makes you feel good? Love in Christ, Pastor Louise
