The Word for today is found in Ephesians 4:12, 14
12For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ: 14That we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive; (KJV)
12 to equip his people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up: 14 Then we will no longer be infants, tossed back and forth by the waves, and blown here and there by every wind of teaching and by the cunning and craftiness of people in their deceitful scheming. (NIV)
Verse 12 addresses the job of the five-fold ministry gifts given to the body of Christ.
The first time I went into the jail as part of the Tuscaloosa County Jail Ministry I was stunned at all the different doctoring and teachings that were being presented to the girls. There were so many contradictory views that I was amazed that the girls did not spin theirs heads like the girl in the Exorcist movie. There is no stability in that.
You need to find a minister who preaches the whole Word of God, and stick with her. Stop chasing ministries that only teach what you like or makes you feel good.
If you are not under someone who is ministering all the Word, you will get out of balance in your walk with Christ.
I love sweets but if I only ate sweets, my body would be so out of balance it could not function well. I need vegetables, meat, fruit and milk. I do not always want vegetables, but I also know that I need them so I eat them. You may not always like to hear particular areas of the Word, but you them to grow up.
Find a good pastor and stay faithful to the church the Holy Spirit has called you to. Be sure that what the pastor is teaching is in line with the whole Word of God.
Love in Christ, Pastor Louise.
