The Word for today is found in Proverbs 6:16-19

16These six things doth the LORD hate: yea, seven are an abomination unto him: 17A proud look, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood, 18An heart that deviseth wicked imaginations, feet that be swift in running to mischief, 19A false witness that speaketh lies, and he that soweth discord among brethren. (KJV)

16 There are six things the LORD hates,
seven that are detestable to him:
17 haughty eyes,
a lying tongue,
hands that shed innocent blood,
18 a heart that devises wicked schemes,
feet that are quick to rush into evil,
19 a false witness who pours out lies
and a person who stirs up conflict in the community. (NIV)

So often we believers focus on the minor and ignore the major. What these verses are addressing are major sins of the heart.

I have been in churches where there seems to be no move of the Spirit of God, and when you hang around the members long enough you see why. There is as much back biting, gossip, and strife going on as anywhere you could find in the world.

Yet we question why God is not doing more among the people? We as believers need to do some real soul searching in our own lives first. These are serious sins and some people are hiding them well.

God will judge the hidden sins of the heart; it is not for you or me to judge one another. But, be assured that your sins will find you out, for nothing is hidden from God.
