The Word for today is found in Ephesians 4:22-24

that you put off, concerning your former conduct, the old man which grows corrupt according to the deceitful lusts, and be renewed in the spirit (attitude) of your mind, and that you put on the new man which was created according to God, in true righteousness and holiness.

In these verses Paul says that we are to do three things.

1. Put off,
2. be renewed,
3. and put on.

Notice that it is not God that does these things, but that we are commanded to be the one who acts. So often we pray that God will cause us to walk in the righteousness that he has called us to, but it is our responsibility to do the putting off and putting on.

The Word in the Greek for putting off and putting on is the same as the one who changes clothes. How hard is it to get dressed in the morning? You do it as a natural thing one does in life, so we as Christians should dress ourselves as God has created us to be.

The key is found in the verse that is sandwiched in between v22 and v24: It through the renewing of your mind. It is your job to study, and yours alone.

Be a blessing to someone today,

Love in Christ, Pastor Louise
