The Word for today is found in Colossians 3:1-3:
1If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God. 2Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth. 3For ye are dead, and your life is hid with Christ in God. (KJV)
1 Since, then, you have been raised with Christ, set your hearts on things above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. 2 Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things. 3 For you died, and your life is now hidden with Christ in God. (NIV)
Where are your affections? Do you seek things, or the giver of the things?
God is not opposed to you having things on this earth. He just does not want the things to have you.
God is a jealous God he wants to be first in your whole life. He should be the first thing on your mind when your wake up, and the last one on your mind at night. As a matter of fact, he should be on your mind all day long.
I went for a walk with my husband last night as we often do, and as I was walking I started having a wonderful conversation with my heavenly Father. Scripture came poring out of my spirit that I quoted back to him in thankfulness for all he has done for me.
We need to keep a thankful heart always toward our loving Father. It will change your day and your life.
