The Word for today is found in 2 Timothy 3:16,17:
16 All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness,
17 that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work.
I am afraid too may Christians either do not see the Word as a living Word inspired by God, or do not realize that it is the means to our growth and success as a believer.
Too often we get one saved, delivered from hell and into heavens door and leave it at that. There is so much more to this Christian life. How much time you invest in the Word of God is equal to how much of an overcomer you will be today.
Faith comes by hearing and hearing the word of God.
Faith is a growth process and if you do not feed your faith you will not grow.
In 2 Timothy 4:2 -4 we read,
2 Preach the word! Be ready in season and out of season. Convince, rebuke, exhort, with all longsuffering and teaching. 3 For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine, but according to their own desires, because they have itching ears, they will heap up for themselves teachers; 4 and they will turn their ears away from the truth, and be turned aside to fables.
God’s word is not a fable to be taken out of context to fit our beliefs.
I have had people and ministers say “well I believe such and such because it is my church doctrine”. If it does not line up with the whole Word of God then you’re on the wrong path. We are not called to follow men but Jesus.
Jesus and the Word are one and the same. It is a dangerous thing to add to or take away from the Word. It is God’s last will and testament and you do not have the right to change it anymore than someone can change your will. Read the Word for yourself and make sure that what is being taught lines up with what God is saying.
